Over the years he reached conversational ability in German, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Hindi.
When I returned to India after my schooling I had great difficulty reconnecting with the people I met due to the language barrier.
Without an aptitude for study I was locked out from a world I wanted to explore. When I travelled through India extensively later in my adult life it seemed clear that even a basic level of conversational ability would transform many situations. During that time I spent almost three months learning Hindi and never quite managed to speak in a way I found conversationally satisfying. Over time this inability became deeply frustrating. It occurred to me that without a fundamental understanding of how the language worked I couldn't progress quickly enough and this became demotivating.
While in Goa I learnt German with an excellent teacher who taught me intensively. I needed reference materials to practice what I had learned. As a result, I made various charts for review that helped me to recall and speak German later. It occurred to me that these materials could be applied to other languages as well. Determined to solve my previous language learning challenges, I started building a system that would allow me to teach myself methodically. Combined with lessons and content gathered from locals and tutors over the years I developed a systematic approach for rapid acquisition of grammar.
While living in Portugal I started teaching Portuguese using these new learning materials. Over time the materials and the process were refined and found to significantly accelerate language learning for all my students.
Wanting to bring my discoveries to the wider world I connected with like-minded founders who are also driven to make a difference. We have set out to build a company around a digital platform that can deliver this learning experience.

Co-founder & Director
Lingotran is a language learning company, where we build tools to make language learning easier for you.
Our goal is simple — to help you move from learning a language to using it.
Because real learning doesn't happen just by understanding rules or remembering words.
The Crucible Method, created by our founder Alexis, focuses on recall and fluency. It helps you train your mind to think in the language, instead of translating from your own. While there are many tools available for language teachers and learners today, we've seen how difficult it can be to keep track of multiple platforms — one for speaking, another for reading, another for pronunciation. And most of them aren't aligned with where the learner actually is in their journey.
That's why our goal is to bring everything together in one place — a single, structured platform with courses aligned to the learner's level, curriculum, and real classroom goals. Whether it's for school students or adult learners, Lingotran aims to be the most structured and aligned language learning platform for all kinds of institutional needs.
Class is where students learn. Lingotran is where they practice. Together, they master French!
From a simple idea to a comprehensive language learning ecosystem—here's how Lingotran evolved.
We began our journey by building the core of Lingotran — starting with the Crucible Method and developing the first seven Crucible components. An internal authoring tool for content ingestion and our LMS foundation were created. During this phase, we focused on ideation, research, prototypes, and product design, defining our database, creating minigames, and refining early UX. We built our first team, conducted alpha testing, and proved our core concept with working speech detection and pronunciation modules.
This stage was about turning prototypes into a working product. We introduced adaptive learning, teacher dashboards, and enhanced speech activities powered by AI. Early pilot testing began with school students, followed by continuous feedback loops with teachers to refine UI, flow, and outcomes. By the end of this phase, Lingotran had been stress-tested with over 500 users, completed 14 minigames, and finalized the Crucible UX — transforming into a classroom-ready platform built around real learner needs.
Our pilots expanded from a few classrooms to multiple schools across Bangalore and Mysore, bringing hundreds of new learners onboard. We built our marketing and outreach team, collaborated with language experts and international educators, and participated in key education events, including the Université Pédagogique Régionale (UPR) 2025 organized by the French Institute in India. These collaborations helped validate Lingotran’s impact — improved retention, pronunciation, and motivation — and strengthened our network across India, the UK, and Sri Lanka. We also started special pilots like the Weekly Assessment Program for ICSE schools, designed to support consistent learning and better outcomes.
Lingotran entered its next chapter with its official product launch and a growing network of 10+ partner schools and over 1,200 active learners. We achieved our first European partnership in Amsterdam and made our U.S. debut at the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA Annual Conference in Miami, opening pathways for collaboration with Alliance Française chapters globally. Our team was also invited to the Elets World Education Summit 2025, contributing to discussions on bridging learning and employability. Today, Lingotran continues to build meaningful partnerships, blending human teaching with structured digital learning — creating a model for how languages can be learned naturally, everywhere.

Swapna Chandrashekar Pigeat is proud to be part of Lingotran’s journey, creating content for a digital learning platform that empowers teachers in their teaching journey and helps learners practice effectively.
Before joining Lingotran, Swapna was an entrepreneur and held various management roles in the retail and hospitality sectors. Her career took a meaningful turn when she had the opportunity to teach French at one of the leading international schools. It was during this time that she discovered the profound impact a teacher can have, making learning engaging, meaningful, and result-driven.
As both a teacher and a parent, I deeply understand the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. That’s why I’m thrilled to be part of a team that embraces innovation and adapts to the needs of the present and the future, making teaching and learning more enjoyable and effective.
I truly believe that Blended learning doesn’t replace the teachers; it amplifies the impact. It’s not just about using technology, it’s about reimagining how learning happens.

Chief Technology Officer
With nearly three decades of experience across Warehouse Management, Supply Chain, Digital Learning, High-Stake Assessments, and Corporate Training, he has built products and solutions that have transformed how organizations operate. His career spans diverse industries including EdTech, Healthcare, Airlines, Finance, and Education Publishing — where technology has consistently served as a bridge between vision and real-world impact.
Known for his pragmatic approach to innovation, he believes technology is most powerful when it simplifies complexity and improves human experience. Having led cross-functional teams across industries, his expertise lies in building scalable, data-driven, and user-centered solutions — translating new technologies into meaningful outcomes.
At Lingotran, he brings this experience and mindset to the heart of education — leading a team of engineers, designers, and language experts in building an intelligent, speech-driven platform that enhances the way people learn and use languages.
At Lingotran, our goal was never just to digitize language learning — it was to humanize it.
When we started building the platform, we wanted to solve a real problem: how to help learners speak naturally, not just memorize vocabulary. For that, we focused on speech technology, adaptive learning, and AI-driven recall systems — tools that support the way people actually learn to converse.
Leading a team of more than 30 talented professionals, I’ve seen firsthand how thoughtful engineering can reshape learning outcomes. Our innovations in speech recognition, adaptive drills, and Crucible-based practice were all born from one belief — that language learning is a process of building memory and reflex, not just knowledge.
In my view, AI is not magic. As I’ve often said, ‘Classical AI is just thoughtful programming — good logic, good data, and disciplined design.’ The real intelligence lies in how we apply these principles responsibly, to make life easier and learning more effective.
That’s what we’re doing at Lingotran — using AI and engineering not as replacements for teachers, but as enhancers of human learning. Our goal is to make language learning structured, intelligent, and deeply personal — where technology quietly supports, and learners shine.
